Recently, a customer brought in their 2014 Honda CR-V after a rear-end fender bender left the vehicle with significant damage. The impact left the rear bumper smashed in and caused visible cracks throughout the back hatch area.
While the vehicle was still drivable, the damage wasn’t just cosmetic; it compromised the safety and structure of the rear end. Our team at Direct Paint & Collision got to work right away to return the CR-V to its pre-accident condition.
Assessing the Damage
Once the CR-V arrived at our shop, our technicians carefully assessed the full extent of the damage. We also inspected the underlying structure to ensure there was no frame or alignment damage.
Fortunately, the damage was isolated to the outer panels. With a solid plan in place, we got started on the restoration process.
Replacing the Rear Bumper and Repairing the Hatch
First, we removed the damaged rear bumper and installed a brand-new OEM replacement to match the original design. For the back hatch, our team repaired the cracked areas, filled and smoothed them out, and prepped the surface for refinishing.
Once the repairs were complete, we repainted the entire rear section of the vehicle using our state-of-the-art color-matching technology to ensure a seamless finish. The end result blended perfectly with the rest of the vehicle.
