Pennsylvania residents should be prepared to see many sobriety checkpoints and speed traps this holiday season. “Operation Safe Holiday” is a PennDOT and police initiative put into effect during the holidays to keep roadways safe.
From now through the New Year, officials will crack down on speeding, drunk driving, and aggressive driving. Additionally, there is a statewide effort to increase Click It or Ticket seat-belt enforcement.
According to PennDOT, last year’s Christmas and New Year travel periods resulted in a combined 1,994 crashes and 19 fatalities.
Before you make any travel plans this year, be sure to check weather updates and make sure your vehicle is prepared to handle all weather conditions. Remember to take your time driving and wear your seat-belt. These simple steps can save you a ticket, and possibly your life.
